Who Qualifies To Get A Bursary Or University Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application procedure.

Applications are now open and may close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to meet the subsequent requirements:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who emanates from a home that has a combined gross domestic earnings that doesn't exceed R350 000 for each annum.

• Individuals with disabilities qualify if their combined residence earnings won't exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and need not post any evidence of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African nsfas login citizens and permanent inhabitants from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 per annum.

Applicants are reminded to offer the correct Identity Doc numbers, names, and surname, as reflected in their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are studying or plan to research at a public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
